Torah Montessori School is proud to be Chicago's newest progressive Jewish preschool (ages three through six) and lower elementary (first through third grade).

Torah Montessori School brings a unique model of Jewish education to the Chicago community by melding Torah and secular curriculums together in a presentation that is both relevant and interconnected—what we like to term “integrated contextual learning.”  Children of varied Jewish backgrounds, ages and developmental levels can thrive in this type of classroom because it is based on the idea that each and every child has the ability to come to understand his/her unique "way" or "darko" in Hebrew and, with confidence, develop a love of learning that will last a lifetime.

The goal of Torah Montessori School is to assist each child in his/her quest to become an independent, inquiring and confident Jew with a deep personal relationship with the Creator.

We see each child as a whole person, not a vessel into which we pour measured amounts of knowledge.  By working to understand and support the developmental characteristics of the age level and unique personality of each child, we follow the directives of Shlomo Hamelech to "Chanoch l'naar al pi darcho gam ki yazkin lo yosur mimeno (Educate a child according to his way; even when he is old he will not turn from it)” and Dr. Maria Montessori’s plea to “follow the child.”

Torah Montessori School has adopted an authentic commitment to both the Montessori Method and an original Mesorah tradition that has unfortunately been replaced in many Jewish schools by direct frontal teaching.  In our school children are not only given the opportunity to grow and develop at their own pace emotionally and academically, but they learn the valuable skills to become the director and teacher to their own intelligence.
